Searching for Twitter lists

Have you ever tried searching for Twitter lists but whatever you try you cannot find a way to search for them.

Twitter Lists

Twitter lists are great to cut down on the noise and they help you to see what you want to see but searching for one from Twitter search is impossible.

The one thing missing from Twitter Search and it’s big brother Advanced Search, is the ability to search for a Twitter List.

To search for a Twitter list you will have to head over to Google and enter the following into the search bar and replace {Search term} with the word you are searching for. inurl:lists {search term}

If you wanted to search for a list that includes the word ‘snapchat‘ the result would be :-

Diweddariadau Facebook mewn mwy na un iaith

Ydych chi’n rhannu diweddariadau Facebook amlieithog?

Yn aml iawn mae tudalennau Facebook amlieithog yn gallu cynnwys diweddariadau mewn mwy na un iaith. Mi all hyn wneud y diweddariad yn hir i ddarllen ac weithiau’n edrych yn flêr.

Mae hi’n bosib rhannu diweddariadau Facebook mewn mwy na un iaith gyda dim ond un o’r ieithoedd yn ymddangos ar wal y darllenwr. Trwy fynd mewn i osodiadau’r tudalen a mynd lawr i waelod y tudalen, mi welwch Post in Multiple Languages. Trowch hwn ymlaen.

Facebook options, sut i droi mwy na un iaith ymlaen

Nawr, pan fyddwch yn rhannu diweddariad mi allwch ddewis yr opsiwn ddiofyn ac unrhyw ieithoedd arall. Mi fydd y darllenwr yn gweld y diweddariad yn yr iaith maen nhw wedi gosod Facebook i fod neu’r opsiwn ddiofyn os rydych ddim wedi rhannu yn eu hiaith nhw.

Diweddariad Facebook mewn mwy na un iaith

Yr unig broblem gyda’r opsiwn amlieithog ydi pan fyddwch yn rhannu’r diweddariad ymlaen ar dudalen arall. Beth fydd yn digwydd ydi mi fydd y diweddariad Saesneg yn cael ei ddangos pob tro oherwydd does yna ddim gosodiadau iaith ar dudalennau Facebook.

Os oes gennych unrhyw sylw, rhannwch ef isod.

Are you still using the old Twitter logo?

How many of you are still using the old pre-November 2011 Twitter T logo?

Pre-November 2011 Twitter T logo

Current Twitter bird logo

Have a look at any of your promotional material and/or website that includes the Twitter logo. Does the logo look like a t or a bird?

In November 2011, the logo was changed from the small t to the blue bird that is currently being used.

It is unbelievable how much promotional material out there that includes the old logo. Using the old logo makes your promotional material look amateurish, unprofessional and, of course, old-fashioned.

Social media ‘experts’, web designers, graphic designers and printing companies are the main culprits for this mistake. They of all people should make sure that the logos they use are current and up to date. Personally, I would be reluctant to use any business that produces any work that includes the old logo especially the ones that call themselves social media ‘experts’. I did once spot that a so-called social media ‘expert’ was using the old logo on their promotional material. I raised this with them and the reply I received in return was “it was only a problem for you mate”.

If you do ask people to create promotional material for you or your business, make sure that you ask for a proof before the promotional material goes public.

How to Improve Your Social Media Profile

Twitter Egg profile picture

When people look to follow you on social media they look for a profile that is complete and that provides the information that the person is looking for. With an incomplete and untidy looking profile people will not follow you.

Optimize your profile and cover image

Your profile picture and cover image will be the first thing that people look at when they visit your profile. What does it make people think about the quality of your brand if your images are blurry or stretched? You need images that make a good impression.

You can change your cover image as often as you wish. Use it as your shop window to feature new products that you sell, events coming up or a picture of the employees.

Keep your profile picture consistent across all platforms. That’s the first thing that people look for when they search for you on social media. If you change your profile picture to something that people cannot associate with you. It’s easy to get lost in the crowd.

A great website that helps you create great images of the correct size is Canva.

Be consistent across all platforms

Have a consistent name across all networks. If you use different account names it will cause confusion. Using the same images and colour schemes on your different accounts will help people to recognise you. Being inconsistent will make you less appealing to people looking to follow you.

Make yourself searchable

Use relevant keywords in your bio. Profiles using keywords will rank better in search results. Keywords must be relevant to you.

Make sure each bio section is filled in

It’s amazing how many social media profiles have got incomplete bios. Make sure you fill each section with a description that is accurate and which contains good quality information.

Be aware that Twitter limits your bio to 160 characters.

Link to your other social media profiles and website

Linking to your other profiles will help to drive traffic and it helps to distinguish between real and bogus accounts.

Facebook ‘See First’ feature

Do you have a fear of missing out on Facebook?

Fear of missing out or FOMO is human nature and what drives social media.

Facebook’s goal with the news feed is to display the stories that are important to you. They order posts in an order based on how interesting they are to you. The more you contact someone or like or comment on content, Facebook will rank them higher in your news feed.

Facebook has added the ‘See First’ feature to help you not to miss important updates from friends and pages. With this feature you can now select which friends and pages you would like to see at the top of your news feed.

The new feature can be found under the ‘Following’ tab on profiles and pages. It lets you the user take back control over what appears in your news feed.
